Gyms & sports clubs
A gym without effective AC loses members. Intervention on central AC, plateau and changing-room ventilation, water cooling. Contact us for a contract or intervention.

Gyms and sports clubs in Morocco have grown strongly over the past decade — from 100-square-metre neighbourhood gyms to major chains (Vital, BC Fit) and hotel complexes with spa and hammam. Members pay monthly and expect a comfortable experience: cooled training floor, ventilation clearing sweat and odours, changing rooms with clean air, cool drinking water. If AC or ventilation fails, members don't complain — they leave for a competitor and don't renew. Thermal load on the training floor is heavy: dozens of bodies radiating heat, cardio equipment giving off heat, dense lighting. Systems run at full load in summer and need reinforced maintenance. Sengo operates from Marrakech and covers 9 regions with 13 technicians and 4 vehicles, on central AC (Daikin, Carrier, Trane, York) and splits (Gree, Midea, Samsung, LG). We intervene before opening or after closing to avoid disturbing members.
Common issues
- Hot training floor degrading performance
- Accumulated odours in changing rooms
- Unmaintained AC blowing up the electricity bill
- Refrigerated water fountain out of service in summer
- AC noise disturbing coaches and members
Equipment and systems we service
Central AC for large training floors
Ducted systems (Carrier, Daikin, Trane) or rooftops. High thermal load due to members and cardio. Reinforced condenser maintenance, filter cleaning, fan checks, airflow balancing between zones.
Cardio and weight-room AC
Cardio floors need higher airflow than weight rooms. Industrial splits or cassettes (Daikin, LG, Midea). Preventive maintenance on drains, filters, and temperature settings suited to the activity.
Changing-room and shower ventilation
Changing rooms and showers accumulate humidity and odours. Extractors, MVHR, air exchangers (Aldes, Atlantic, Soler & Palau). Maintenance on fans, air filters and operating timers.
Water cooling and spa equipment
Refrigerated water fountains, spa equipment (hammam AC, jacuzzi backup cooling), point-of-sale coolers. Maintenance of refrigeration circuits, water filters, drains.
Pool and spa dehumidification
Pool and spa halls require heavy dehumidification to protect the building and equipment. Specialised units (Dantherm, CIAT). Maintenance of exchangers, refrigeration circuits and controls.
Regulatory context and industry standards
Gyms in Morocco fall under public-reception rules (ERP): safety, emergency exits, ventilation sized for human load. Gyms with spa or hammam also fall under public hygiene rules. AC has no specific sector regulation but refrigerant handling (R32, R410A) is regulated. Invoicing is issued with ICE and RC. Membership contracts morally commit the gym on service quality, and a prolonged AC outage can trigger cancellation requests. This backdrop explains why the gym needs a reliable provider with guaranteed summer intervention priority.
Typical interventions we see in this sector
Generic examples to show the nature of the work, with no client disclosure.
Central AC failure at summer peak
The manager reports central AC down on a 40°C+ day. Members start to leave. The technician intervenes as top priority, diagnoses the fault (high pressure, fan, compressor thermal protection), and calls between immediate repair or auxiliary fans as a temporary fix.
Persistent changing-room odours
Member complaints pile up about odours. The technician checks the extractor, humidity sensor, air filters and timer. Repairs what's broken and recommends a higher fresh-air rate if the problem is structural.
Full pre-summer review
Two months before summer, the gym books a full review: deep filter cleaning, roof and condenser checks, leak search, water-fountain testing, ventilation checks. Goal: no emergency in July–August.
Seasonality and year-round needs
The absolute peak thermal load is summer (June–September): outdoor temperatures exceed 40°C in Marrakech, Fès, Béni Mellal, and members flock to cooled gyms as a comfortable alternative to outdoor sport. January–April is the New Year's resolution and summer-prep season with a wave of new subscriptions loading the gym. Ramadan changes hours (late-night opening until dawn) and puts AC under load at unusual hours. Winter is quieter but heating becomes the priority in the Atlas and North. Major preventive review is planned in April before summer and October before winter resolutions. Duct cleaning is scheduled once or twice a year depending on gym size.
Why a contract beats one-off call-outs
A gym maintenance contract protects revenue directly: avoiding waves of drop-outs and cancellation requests during a prolonged outage. Planned visits reduce surprise breakdowns, and preventive filter and condenser maintenance keeps electricity consumption under control (the energy bill is a significant cost). Written reports support internal management and prove reception quality to demanding members. Summer priority is guaranteed by contract. Sengo offers three contract tiers from the neighbourhood gym to a multi-site network, with flexibility in coordinating with the manager or owner. The choice depends on gym size, system complexity and member count.
